We Came Here to Shine by Susie Orman

"We Came Here to Shine" by Susie Orman is a historical fiction that takes place during the 1939 New York World's Fair.  Struggling actress Vivi gets assigned (by her studio head for whom she is under contract with) to replace the lead in the famous Aquacade (a dazzling synchronized swimming show) along-side Gold Medal Olympian and Tarzan star Johnny Weissmuller. College student Max, majoring in journalism, gets assigned by her professor to a summer internship at the World's Fair's to write for the fair's daily paper -instead of at the New York Times as she'd hoped. Neither Vivi nor Maz are thrilled by their assignments. Luckily, these two happen to meet and form a friendship. I did a zoom program with this author and learned how much research she put into this book. Alot of true events were included in her fictional tale-which made this an interesting story.
